Yellow Veil Pictures has officially announced the digital release of Racheal Cain’s debut feature, Somnium. The acclaimed indie sci-fi horror film will arrive on major streaming platforms this month, following a limited theatrical run. The film has already garnered praise. It took home the Audience Award at the Chattanooga Film Festival and the Silver Audience Award at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, with its lead actress, Chloë Levine, winning Best Actress at FilmQuest.

A Decade in the Making

Somnium’s journey to the screen has been a decade-long labor of love. Cain began writing the script in 2011, and the project finally gained momentum with a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2018. The film was shot in two phases, with one of the flashback scenes filmed in 2018. The present-day scenes were captured between 2021 and 2022. Now, it’s finally making its release. The unique production timeline adds to the film’s fragmented, nightmarish quality.

A Chilling Descent into a Hellish Dreamscape

The story centers on Diana (Chloë Levine), who awakens from a coma with fragmented memories. She and her husband (Ben Petrie) seek out experimental treatments at a remote facility, but as the procedures become more intense, their marriage is put to the test, and Diana begins to question her husband’s true motives.

In Front of and Behind the Camera

The film also features a talented cast that includes Peter Vack (Mozart in the Jungle), Will Peltz (Unfriended), Johnathon Schaech (Suitable Flesh), and Grace Van Dien (Stranger Things).

Ahead of the release, Cain shared her excitement. “I couldn’t have dreamt Somnium would end up in theaters just a few miles from where I started writing it all those years ago,” she said. “This film has clawed its way into existence over the last decade and I can only hope viewers find it was worth the wait.”

Beginning on September 9th, audiences can rent or own Somnium on Digital HD platforms, including Apple TV, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home.
