Remember that bonkers fake trailer from Eli Roth and Snoop Dogg, Don’t Go in That House, Bitch!? Well, get ready, because it’s officially becoming a full-length feature film!
Just three weeks after they dropped the trailer, Eli Roth announced that his new company, Horror Section Studios, is producing a feature-length version of the horror comedy. The original trailer, which was released as part of the promotion for the movie Jimmy and Stiggs, features Snoop Dogg’s voice-over as he warns a parade of clueless people to stop going into a cursed house. Of course, they never listen, and the horrors that ensue get more and more insane.
A Killer Collaboration
Variety is reporting that both Roth and Snoop Dogg will produce the film, with Snoop also writing and producing the soundtrack’s music.
According to Roth, this project has been on his mind for a while. “There are some ideas that are so ridiculous they don’t let you sleep,” he said. “I have always wanted to make the ultimate haunted house movie, but something unlike any we’ve seen—something full on insane and over the top. When I shared the idea with Snoop, he got it immediately and it was a no-brainer to make this film together.”
“Snoop loves horror movies, and I want this to be the ultimate collab, bringing out the craziest from both of us,” Roth continued. “Just don’t say we didn’t warn you.”
A History of Horror
Roth has long been a fixture in the genre, delivering movies like Cabin Fever, Hostel, and The Green Inferno. His most recent project is the movie Ice Cream Man, which is currently in production. This is not the first time a fake trailer has turned into a feature film by Roth. The first was his movie, Thanksgiving, which started as a fake trailer shown in the film Grindhouse. Thanksgiving just happens to have landed on Netflix.
The upcoming movie is not the rapper/actor’s first experience with the horror genre. Snoop Dogg starred in the 2001 film Bones and the 2006 horror comedy Hood of Horror.
Contriversy
The news about Don’t Go in that House, Bitch! The news comes hot off the heels of Snoop Dogg landing in hot water over an anti-LBGTIQ+ post on social media after seeing a Lesbian version of Buzz Lightyear. He has since apologized.
