Get ready for a thrilling new movie that’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. The wildly popular psychological thriller The Housemaid, by Freida McFadden, has been adapted into a feature film.

The film is directed by the talented Paul Feig, known for his work on movies like A Simple Favor and Ghostbusters. Feig promises a “sexy and surprising rollercoaster ride.” He aims to capture the essence of the novel while adding a few new twists for both fans and newcomers.

The cast is stacked with familiar faces, including Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia!), and Brandon Sklenar (Midway).

Recently, PEOPLE magazine gave us a sneak peek at the film with exclusive first-look images, building even more anticipation.

For those who haven’t read the book, the plot follows Millie (Sydney Sweeney). She is a struggling young woman. She finally catches a break when she’s hired as a housemaid for a wealthy couple. But Millie soon discovers that her new employers are hiding secrets far more dangerous than her own. The screenplay was masterfully adapted by Rebecca Sonnenshine, known for her work on “The Boys,” ensuring the film will be a suspenseful and nail-biting experience.

According to Amanda Seyfried, “The film captures everything fans loved about the book — secrets, tension and twists.”

Paul Feig calls the movie “pure entertainment” and the kind of film you’ll want to watch again and again. With its blend of tension, twists, and high-stakes drama, The Housemaid is shaping up to be a perfect cinematic treat for the holidays. It debuts in theatres on December 19, 2025.
