One of the most talked-about horror movies this fall, director Ben Leberberg’s Good Boy, is getting a massive upgrade ahead of its theatrical debut. Thanks to the overwhelming hype from its trailer, the film is now getting a wide release!
Originally, IFC Films planned a limited run, but when the trailer racked up nearly two million views and broke the internet, they knew they had a hit. The studio is giving it a full nationwide release to meet the demand. You know what everyone’s searching for online? “Does the dog die in Good Boy?” And yes, I am one of those people.
This movie is all about Indy, an adorable dog who moves with his human, Todd, to a new house. Todd is super excited, but Indy immediately gets some evil vibes. He begins seeing ghostly paw prints and creepy glimpses of the past. As a sinister force starts to take over Todd, Indy has to be the hero and fight to save his best friend. The trailer below is enough to give you chills.
Indy, the real-life star, is a 35-pound pup who has no idea he’s a movie star. He loves fetch, food, and his humans, in that order. His special skills include finding tennis balls and staring into your soul right before dinner. Good Boy is his first feature film, and by all accounts, he is, in fact, by all accounts, a very good boy.
The film is the directorial debut for Ben Leonberg, who also co-wrote the script. And who better to star than his own real-life dog, Indy? The human cast also includes horror favorite Larry Fessenden, along with Shane Jensen and Arielle Friedman.
While we all desperately want to know if Indy makes it to the end, you’ll have to find out for yourself! Luckily, the wait is almost over. Good Boy will be released in theaters nationwide from IFC on October 3! Tickets are on sale now!
