Get ready to lock your doors and turn down the lights! Master of horror, John Carpenter, is back to deliver a fresh dose of fright with the 11th annual volume of “John Carpenter’s Tales for a Halloweenight.” Debuting just in time for spooky season, this year’s collection promises to drag you into a dark and delightfully demented realm where anything can happen—and almost certainly will!

This incredible volume is a curated collection of short tales of terror, the unexpected, and the macabre. The fear begins with a grisly tale written by John Carpenter himself, titled “Cathedral.” It introduces a violent entity. The anthology doesn’t stop there, though! It also features a terrifying, nostalgic nightmare set in 1987. There’s a dread-laden trip back to the turn of the 20th century, and a darkly disturbing story based on current events. There are also classic tales of monsters, werewolves, and cursed creatures. As a special bonus, Volume 11 includes a section of full-page “pinups” filled with wild and weird imaginings guaranteed to give you chills.

This year’s volume is also dedicated to the great actor Peter Jason, a close friend of both Carpenter and King who appeared in several of Carpenter’s films.

“The terrors we can imagine are nothing compared to the dreadful realities we’ve actually lived through since last Halloween, but there’s one thing I’ve always known is true: horror heals,” said Sandy King, founder and editor of Storm King Comics. “These stories let our minds wander into a land where our worst fears can be realized—safely, with a healthy dose of humor. This year’s lineup is so strong, and we’re sure fans of horror will love what they find.”

Vol II was written by John Carpenter, Sandy King, Kealan Patrick Burke, Elena Carillo, Amanda Deibert, Andre R. Frattino, Joe Harris, Jim Ousley, Mike Sizemore, Sean Sobczak, Frank Tieri, Jennie Wood, and Alec Worley. It features art, inks, and lettering by Jason Shawn Alexander, Valerio Alloro, Raúlo Cáceres, Jaime Carillo, Ryan Carr, Richard P. Clark, Leonardo Colapietro, and Federico De Luca. Ed Dukeshire, Hernán González, David Hitchcock, Jack Mandrake, Sian Mandrake, Andrea Mutti. Nick Percival, Alex Sarabia, Benjamin Sawyer, Cat Staggs, Damien Worm, and Ryan Winn are also behind the artwork.

You can grab “John Carpenter’s Tales for a Halloweenight Vol 11” from comics shops and from Storm King Comics on October 13. Digital copies are also available from Global Comix. Fans can get their hands on the comic’s retail debut during New York Comic-Con. It will feature a special variant cover by illustrator Cat Staggs, which will be available for purchase.
