This October, the original masked killer is making a grand return to the big screen. The classic film that started it all, John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978), is coming back to theaters across the country. And it’s not alone! Two of its sequels, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, are also part of the fun.
These movies will be showing in over 80 cities and nearly 400 theaters, so you’ll have plenty of chances to catch them. More locations are being added every day, so keep an eye out! Spotlight Cinema Networks and Trancas International Films are behind the theatrical return.
According to Malek Akkad, CEO of Trancas International Films, “Seeing Halloween in theaters is unlike anything else. It’s the way the film was intended to be experienced.” He added that for many families and fans, it’s become an annual tradition to see the movie on the big screen and share the suspense of Michael Myers. CineLife Entertainment® is partnering with them again to make sure that happens.
Bernadette McCabe, from CineLife Entertainment, said, “Halloween is more than just a film. It is an experience that has become part of how people celebrate the season.” It’s a great chance for both long-time fans and new viewers to get in on the spooky fun.
Halloween (1978) is often called one of the most influential horror films ever made. It all starts on Halloween night in 1963, when six-year-old Michael Myers murders his sister. After 15 years in an institution, a 21-year-old Michael escapes. He returns to his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, to find his next victims. The film, directed and co-written by John Carpenter, stars Jamie Lee Curtis along with Donald Pleasence.
In Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988), a comatose Michael Myers awakens and searches for Jamie. A foster sister is looking after her, and his former psychiatrist, Dr. Loomis, is once again on his trail.
Finally, in Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, Michael is back again, this time to kill Jamie, who has been sent to a mental institution. Dr. Loomis believes there’s a psychic connection between them and tries to stop Michael’s rampage with the help of the local sheriff.
This is a perfect chance to experience the horror classics the way they were meant to be seen, in theaters!
