Hot off the heels of Frankenstein‘s festival tour, Guillermo del Toro has found his next project. The fantastic filmmaker is teaming up with Chuck Hogan to produce a film adaptation of their chilling novella series “The Boy in the Iron Box,” for Netflix.
This isn’t the first time the talented duo have teamed up; they also brought us “The Strain.” And speaking of “The Strain,” Kevin Durand, who starred in the series, is set to play a mercenary in The Boy in the Iron Box. Rupert Friend (Jurassic World Rebirth) will play the group leader, and Jaeden Martell (IT) stars as the titular boy in the box. David Prior (The Empty Man) will helm the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story is a tense, claustrophobic horror thriller. It follows a group of mercenaries who crash-land on a remote, snow-covered summit. Seeking refuge from a pack of hungry wolves, they stumble upon an abandoned fortress. Inside, they discover a mysterious box wrapped in chains, and as soon as they open it, terrifying horrors are unleashed.
