The film centers on James Sunderland, played by Jeremy Irvine, a character familiar to long-time fans of the series. The story begins when James receives a mysterious letter from his lost love, Mary. The message draws him back to Silent Hill, a place he once knew but is now completely enveloped in a thick, oppressive darkness.
James descends deeper into the town’s foggy, monster-infested streets. He is forced to confront not only terrifying creatures, but also the unraveling of his own sanity. His search for Mary becomes a descent into a profoundly personal horror. He is pushed to the very edge of his mental and emotional limits.
The new film is helmed by Christophe Gans, who famously directed the original 2006 Silent Hill movie. He co-wrote with Sandra Vo-Anh and William Schneider, based on the fan-favorite video game Silent Hill 2.
Hannah Emily Anderson stars as Mary Crane, who also embodies other characters like Angela, Maria, and the “Moth Mary” version of her character. Fans are eager to see how Anderson will portray the different, complex sides of these characters.
