Horror hounds, clear your schedule and prepare for a serious throwback! Brute 1976—a full-throttle, unapologetic homage to legendary 1970s grindhouse classics like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes—is officially available to watch!
Set exactly where it needs to be, in 1976, the story throws us into a perfectly classic horror scenario. We follow two separate groups whose paths are about to intersect violently in the middle of nowhere. First, there’s Raquel and her girlfriend. They are stranded due to car trouble. Meanwhile, a separate group ventures out to a desolate desert location for a photoshoot.
They soon stumble upon a seemingly abandoned town. Of course, this desolate place is actually the home base for a terrifying family of masked psychopaths. Prepare to meet the “Birdy family.” They sound like they’re ready to take their place in the pantheon of disturbing horror villains!
Director Marcel Walz shared that making the film was an intense, authentic experience: “It was hot, it was dirty, and it was bloody. I’m sure the audience will feel that on screen.” Knetter added that they’re excited for everyone to experience the Birdy family “in all their gory glory”!
Brute 1976 was directed by Marcel Walz (Blood Feast, Blind) and scripted by his frequent collaborator Joe Knetter (Blind). The film features a sizable cast ready to be terrorized, including Adriane McLean, Sarah French, Gigi Gustin, Adam Bucci, and Mark Justice, among others.
The best part? You don’t have to wait! Brute 1976 is now available on VOD and all major digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, Vimeo on Demand, and YouTube Movies from Cinephobia Releasing. And if one dose of this brutal family isn’t enough, you’re in luck: a sequel, titled Brute 1986, is already in post-production.
