Ready for skin-crawling terror? Luke Sparke, the director behind the film Red Billabong, the “Occupation” series and the recent film Primitive War, is back with a nail-biting horror film, Scurry, that will leave your skin crawling.
Scurry is a single-take film that premiered to a strong reception at the 2024 Sydney Film Festival. The film follows two strangers. They find themselves trapped, wounded, and disoriented in an underground tunnel after an attack devastates their city. However, collapsing passageways aren’t their only problem. A relentless swarm of genetically altered creatures hunts them in the darkness.
Sparke describes Scurry as a “love letter to the great monster movies of the past.” He adds that it’s designed to be a wild, pulse-pounding ride that sticks with you long after the credits roll.
Sparke states, “At its heart, Scurry is about survival in an environment that turns against you. The idea of being trapped, isolated, and pursued by something terrifying taps into primal fears we all share. I wanted to craft a story that is as much about the characters’ emotional journeys as it is about the sheer pulse-pounding horror of their situation. Every shadow, every creak, every breathless moment is designed to pull the audience deeper into the chaos.
Starring Jamie Costa and Emalia, Scurry promises to deliver a genuinely terrifying experience. You can see it in select theaters and on digital starting October 3 on Apple TV, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home.
