The team behind The Baby in the Basket —including Shepka Productions, Flickering Myth, and Jolliffe Productions—is pivoting from horror to high-stakes suspense with the announcement of their new feature film, Death Among the Pines.
Described as a tense, Hitchcock-inspired mystery, the film promises a gripping exploration of paranoia in a desolate, isolated location. The script, penned by Tom Jolliffe (known for Cinderella’s Revenge and Renegades), will keep audiences guessing until the final moment.
The story centers on Angela (Nicolette McKeown, Mercy Falls), a woman who leads a seemingly peaceful, secluded life in the vast quiet of the Scottish countryside. Sharing a remote farmhouse with her husband (Olly Bassi, Dick Dynamite: 1944).
The plot kicks into gear during a night of extreme weather. While Angela’s husband is away on a work trip, a brutal storm descends upon the area, cutting off communication. A frantic knock at the door breaks the oppressive quiet. Standing before her is Kevin (Nathan Shepka, Dead Before They Wake), soaking wet and shivering, claiming his tire is busted and he is completely stranded on the isolated road.
Wary but facing the moral dilemma of the storm, Angela cautiously grants him shelter. The tension becomes unbearable when another knock echoes through the farmhouse shortly thereafter. This time, it’s a Police Officer (Stephen Kerr, The Defender). He informs Angela that he is conducting an urgent manhunt for a dangerous fugitive in the area.
Suddenly, Angela’s act of kindness transforms into a paralyzing fear. Could the seemingly harmless motorist she welcomed in be the killer the officer is hunting? The film hinges on the claustrophobic dread as Angela fights to control the terrifying reality unfolding within her own walls.
Death Among the Pines will premiere in early 2026. The trailer will premiere later this year, giving audiences a first look at this gripping new suspense thriller.
