Prepare yourself for a truly grueling and emotional journey. The highly anticipated film adaptation of Stephen King’s classic dystopian novel, The Long Walk, is gearing up for its home release.
For the uninitiated, the story is as bleak as it is captivating. In a dystopian America, 100 teenage boys are forced into a relentless, non-stop walking contest known only as “The Long Walk.” The rules are horrifyingly simple: you cannot stop moving. You get a warning if you’re not keeping up. Rack up too many warnings? You’re out—and in this game, “out” means death. The winner’s wish will be granted. However, it comes at the horrifying cost of the other 99 boys’ lives.
Francis Lawrence directed the adaptation, and he knows a thing or two about intense dystopias thanks to his successful work on The Hunger Games franchise. JT Mollner wrote the screenplay.
Led by Cooper Hoffman, the cast includes David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, and Roman Griffin Davis. The cast also includes Judy Greer and horror legend Mark Hamill.
If you’re ready to dive into this nightmare, you don’t have to wait long. It is walking onto Digital and VOD on October 21. Bring home your copy on 4K UHD Steelbook (+Blu-ray and Digital) on November 25, from Lionsgate. But you can watch it now in theaters.
