Alright, you Deadite-loving maniacs, grab your boomsticks and get ready for some seriously groovy news! The next installment of the Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead Burn, has officially wrapped! The news comes via the Evil Dead Facebook page and the director’s Instagram in the form of a brief, but brutal clip. The message says, “That’s a wrap!”
Steering the ship is Sébastien Vaniček, who directed and co-wrote the script with Florent Bernard. Genre aficionados might already be buzzing about Vaniček’s name. He recently made a significant splash on the festival circuit with his debut horror feature, Vermin. It garnered praise for its innovative scares and atmosphere. This injection of new directorial blood promises a potentially fresh and terrifying take on the Evil Dead formula.
“Wednesday” actor Hunter Doohan stars in this new chapter of demonic mayhem. He’s joined by Souheila Yacoub, Luciane Buchanan, Tandi Wright, Maude Davey, Keanu Karim, and Victory Ndukwe.
The heart and soul of the Evil Dead universe are on board to ensure this new movie stays true to its roots. The legendary franchise creator himself, Sam Raimi, and producer Rob Tapert, are returning to produce Evil Dead Burn. Their continued involvement guarantees that the spirit and splatter we all know and love will be front and center.
And the excellent news doesn’t stop there! Joining Raimi and Tapert as executive producers are Romel Adam, Jose Canas, and Lee Cronin, the director of the most recent and brutally effective Evil Dead Rise. And last, but certainly not least (how could he be?), the one, the only, the dashing, Bruce Campbell – the cult icon forever etched into horror history as the incomparable Ash Williams – is also on board as an executive producer. His presence behind the scenes is a massive stamp of approval and a comforting sign for longtime fans.
As for the plot, it’s still being kept quiet. It’s refreshing not to know, many films reveal too much too soon.
Director Sébastien Vaniček’s vision for the film sounds absolutely brutal, and we are totally here for it! He stated with a clear intent to deliver a truly visceral experience:
“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested. I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!” This bold declaration promises a film that won’t pull any punches and will likely leave audiences squirming in their seats.
Vaniček has revealed that the legendary Sam Raimi granted him “100% creative freedom” to play within the Evil Dead sandbox. This level of trust from the franchise creator is a massive vote of confidence. It suggests that Evil Dead Burn could potentially push the series’ boundaries in exciting and terrifying new ways.
Of course, being an Evil Dead film, we can expect deadites, demonic mayhem, and enough buckets of blood to fill a small swimming pool. With a blend of fresh vision, a talented new lead, and the guiding hands of the original Evil Dead architects, Evil Dead Burn is primed to scorch a brand new, terrifying chapter into the legacy of one of horror’s most beloved and gloriously gory franchises.
New Line and Sony have announced that the installment is locked and loaded for a July 24, 2026, release. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait!
