Director Jeremy Saulnier ( Rebel Ridge) and A24 have added three new names to the cast of the upcoming Halloween thriller, October.
The film marks a reunion of Saulnier and Imogen Poots ( 28 Weeks Later). Poots also starred in the director’s incredible, brutal 2016 film Green Room. Poots is joined by two other new additions: James Badge Dale (The Empty Man) and chef/actor Matty Matheson. Matheson is known for his role as “Neil” on “The Bear,” which has won 21 Primetime Emmys.
The newcomers join Cory Michael Smith (Saturday Night), Chase Sui Wonders (I Know What You Did Last Summer), Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me), Young Mazino (“The Last of Us”), and Stephen Root (“Barry”).
October is officially described only as a “fugitive thriller set during Halloween,” however, specific plot and character details are being kept quiet for now. Saulnier is directing from his own script, with A24 handling production and financing.
Producers include Rich Peete, Eli Bush, Jeremy Saulnier, and Skei Saulnier. Ronald Bronstein, Josh Safdie, Traci Carlson, Elliott Coley, and Macon Blair also produce.
