We’ve got great news for Friday the 13th fans! Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane has confirmed that season one of the prequel series, “Crystal Lake,” has officially wrapped filming.

The series, from the boundary-pushing production company A24, will stream exclusively on Peacock. And will explore the terrifying origins of the iconic franchise.
The prequel will delve into the mythos of the infamous serial killer by centering on his mother, Pamela Voorhees, played by Linda Cardellini (Mad Men).
Cardellini’s Pamela is introduced as a mother who sacrificed a singing career to raise her special needs child. However, her life takes a devastating and dark turn following the tragic loss of her son. It’s a tragedy that sets the stage for her initial, vengeful killing spree at the camp.
The series will also introduce a new actor to the long lineage of men who have played the horror icon. Young actor Callum Vinson (Chucky) has boarded the project as a preteen Jason Voorhees. He joins a legacy that includes legends like Ari Lehman, Kane Hodder, and Derek Mears.
“Crystal Lake” is the iconic town, lake, and summer camp, where Jason Voorhees famously drowned as a child. That event fueled his mother to avenge his “death,” which then propelled Jason into his own brutal, lifelong murder spree that has haunted 12 films, including sequels and reboots.
Brad Caleb Kane serves multiple roles for the series: creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Kane’s passion for the source material is evident, as he expressed upon joining the project last summer:
“From the moment I watched Jason Voorhees squeeze a guy’s eyeball out of its socket (in glorious 3D!) at the tender age of 8 years old, I knew my creative path was someday destined to converge with The Man Behind The Mask… Nothing defined my childhood more than growing up in the golden age of the slasher flick, and nothing’s defined the genre more than ‘Friday The 13th.’ I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to contribute a chapter to this iconic franchise, particularly with such fearless partners as Peacock and A24.”
In addition to Kane, Marc Toberoff, franchise creators Victor Miller and Rob Barsamian, and Stuart Manashil serve as executive producers on the streaming series.
With filming complete, fans can look forward to seeing how this creative team reimagines the seminal horror story for a new generation in 2026.
