Ryan Murphy’s recently released series “Monster: The Ed Gein Story” is still topping Netflix’s “Top 10” list, but he’s not taking a break. Murphy’s already begun work on his next series, an adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ horror novel “The Shards.”
Ellis’s story mixes the glamour of early-80s L.A. with a sinister psychological thriller and horror. The story begins in 1981, Los Angeles. The novel follows Bret as he navigates his senior year, his friends, and a mysterious new student, Robert. Bret becomes obsessed with a serial killer known as “The Trawler,” who is killing teens in the area. The novel explores themes of paranoia, obsession, fear, and growing up.
Today, Variety revealed that Murphy will reunite with “American Horror Story” actor Wes Bentley for “The Shards.” Bentley joins the already impressive cast that includes Kaia Gerber, Igby Rigney, Homer Gere, Graham Campbell, and Hayes Warner. Reportedly, Bentley will play Terry, the father of Debbie (Warner).
We will update you on “The Shards” as soon as more details are released. While you wait, you can see Bentley in action in “American Horror Story.” He appears in “Freak Show,” “Hotel,” and “Roanoke.”
