One of the most highly anticipated films of the year, Black Phone 2, has now arrived on digital and VOD. To celebrate its arrival, I sat down to talk with Arianna Rivas, the star who plays the role of “Mustang,” a feisty, no-nonsense camp counselor. She is all in on helping the other characters, especially her grandfather, Mando (Demian Bichir), who owns the camp where Finna nd Gwen go to look for answers.
Four years ago, in the first film, 13-year-old Finn (Mason Thames) became the sole survivor of the sinister abductor known as “The Grabber.” But true evil, as Finn is about to discover, transcends death. Four-time Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke returns to his most sinister role as “The Grabber” in The Black Phone 2. He now seeks vengeance from the afterlife, tormenting Finn’s headstrong 15-year-old younger sister, Gwen (Madeleine McGraw).
Finn struggles to cope with the trauma of his captivity. However, at the same time, his sister Gwen begins receiving chilling calls in her dreams from the infamous black phone. This leads to disturbing visions of three boys being stalked at a remote winter camp known as Alpine Lake. Gwen persuades Finn to join her on a dangerous visit to the camp during a fierce winter storm. There, they uncover a connection between “The Grabber” and their own family’s dark history. Together, the siblings must confront a killer who has grown more powerful in death with the help of the camp’s owner and his granddaughter (Rivas).
You have seen Rivas in action before. She starred alongside Jason Statham in the action-packed film A Working Man, which was released earlier this year. She also starred in the family-centered film The Harvest. Rivas has also appeared in numerous short films.
