Princess Zelda and Link Revealed in the First Images from ‘The Legend of Zelda’ Movie

The wait is over. The first official images from Sony and Nintendo’s live-action The Legend of Zelda film have arrived. The photos offer an exciting sneak peek at the two leads, showcasing the actors in full costume as the beloved characters.

Released on Monday, the images (via Variety) feature Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who embody Princess Zelda and Link. The visuals capture the duo standing together in a lush, green field. It is a setting immediately recognizable to players of the game series. Bragason sports Zelda’s signature bow and arrow, and both actors wear costumes complete with the pointed ears.

The film is directed by Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, The Maze Runner). Creator Shigeru Miyamoto, serves as a producer on the film.

“I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of ‘The Legend of Zelda,’ Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”

Bo Bragason, who plays Princess Zelda, is recognized for her roles in the BBC One series “Three Girls and The Jetty.” She also appears in Disney’s Renegade Nell”. She also starred in Euros Lyn’s vampire comedy film The Radleys.

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, stepping into the role of Link, provided the voice for Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis’ live-action Pinocchio and played Miles in the critically acclaimed Netflix series “The Haunting of Bly Manor.” He also stars in the Canadian comedy series “Son of a Critch” and appeared in Netflix’s “The Sandman.”

The Legend of Zelda game franchise is an action-adventure franchise from Nintendo, celebrated for pioneering open-world exploration, puzzles, and engaging combat. The series revolves around the hero Link’s quest to defeat the evil Ganon (or Ganondorf) and rescue Princess Zelda.

The Legend of Zelda is scheduled to hit theaters globally on May 7, 2027.
