Horror-Fix Films has released the first official look at its next major project, the docudrama Mangled: The Shelbyville Torture Tapes. The early images offer a glimpse into what the studio intends to be one of the most disturbing films of 2026.
Currently deep in production, Mangled is tracking toward a first-quarter 2026 wrap and is slated for a late 2026 release. This film marks a reunion, bringing together the award-winning talent behind critically acclaimed genre hits like Holes in the Sky: The Sean Miller Story.
Returning to the helm is director Ash Hamilton, celebrated for pushing the boundaries of found-footage, docudrama, and hybrid horror. Hamilton once again joins forces with his longtime collaborator Stephen Taylor.
Also returning is Chanel Hamilton, who serves the production in the dual, crucial roles of production designer and line producer. Chanel brings her signature grounded realism to the brutal and claustrophobic world of Mangled.
Mangled: The Shelbyville Torture Tapes dives deep into a series of grisly mutilations that once terrorized the Midwest. The film explores the brutal nature of the crimes themselves, but also the lingering conspiracy surrounding the man widely believed to be responsible.
The film blends an investigative documentary style with stark, unflinching dramatizations. It examines the possibility that the true killer may still be at large. And that the official, comforting narrative the community embraced might be nothing more than a carefully constructed illusion.
Horror-Fix Films describes Mangled as a “true crime docudrama filtered through a distinctly horrific lens.”
Today’s first-look release includes a curated series of production stills, which immediately capture the film’s stark aesthetic, eerie rural environments, and the unsettling forensic attention to detail for which the studio has become known. Stay tuned for more as it comes.
