The musical label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) isn’t just dropping albums anymore. They’ve officially launched a new film division called TDE Films!
Their first movie project, an urban action-horror film titled The Zone, was recently announced by Deadline. And honestly, it sounds wild!
Dallas Jackson (Blumhouse’s Thriller) is directing the movie, adapting a script by David Hayter (X-Men and Watchmen). Plot details are mostly secret, but we know it’s a high-concept horror project with a sci-fi twist, and they’ll be working with 20th Century Studios on it.
The director, Dallas Jackson, is already hyping it up on Instagram. He recently posted some pictures from the 20th Century Studios lot, saying, “Making movies is all about team building! Getting locked in for 2026.” Sounds like shooting is kicking off soon!

If you check out Jackson’s Instagram Stories, things get even more interesting! He shared an image from the classic horror film The Thing, and also posted some comic-style art for The Zone. This strongly hints that we might be in for some seriously creepy, Thing-esque body horror!
What would a horror/sci-fi flick be without killer effects? The VFX for this film is in the hands of the brilliant artist Alec Gillis, with whom we recently interviewed and discussed his incredible career (watch it here). In case you don’t know, Gillis is a master and the lead VFX artist behind the Predator franchise and many other projects.
For those who don’t know, TDE was founded in 2004 by Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith and is the powerhouse Hip-Hop and R&B label that brought us superstars like Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Jay Rock, and many more. Now they’re gearing up to take over Hollywood! And we’re here for it. Odds are The Zone is going to have a killer soundtrack!
