Get ready, because the internet’s favorite guy, Keanu Reeves, is bringing his own comic book, BRZRKR, to Netflix in a colossal way! We’re talking both a live-action movie starring Keanu himself and an anime series—it’s going to be a massive Keanu-verse takeover.
From Bill & Ted to The Matrix and Beyond
Before he was an immortal badass, Keanu had quite the journey in Hollywood. His film career kicked off in 1985, but his big break was the wacky 1991 comedy Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. He showed his range soon after with the indie flick My Own Private Idaho alongside River Phoenix.
From there, Keanu piled up hits like Bram Stoker’s Dracula and The Devil’s Advocate. But let’s be real—he became a global superstar and the widely beloved actor we know today when he plugged in as Neo in the game-changing 1999 film, The Matrix.
The guy’s just got that chill, charismatic personality that everyone loves, and his career hasn’t slowed down since. He’s been in everything from Something’s Gotta Give and Constantine to his current gig as the legendary hitman in the incredibly popular John Wick saga.
It was recently reported that Reeves will star in the upcoming film Shiver, directed by Tim Miller and written by Ian Shorr.
What’s BRZRKR All About?
So, what is this comic that Keanu actually co-created and co-wrote? BRZRKR (pronounced “Berzerker”) is a brutally epic story about an immortal half-mortal, half-god warrior known simply as “B.” He’s been roaming the earth for a mind-blowing 80,000 years, cursed with extreme violence and a healing factor that won’t let him die.
Today, B works for the U.S. government on ultra-violent black-ops missions. Why? Because the government promises to give him the one thing he desperately wants: the truth about his existence… and a way to end it finally.
What We Know About the Netflix Projects
Netflix is going all-in on this universe:
Keanu Reeves will produce and star as B in the live-action movie. The film is expected to be R-rated, leaning into the comic’s brutal action. Justin Lin, known for the Fast & Furious franchise, is set to direct.
The anime will explore other parts of the BRZRKR universe, and Keanu will return to voice his character. It’s already been planned for two seasons! In short, get ready for a lot more Keanu—it’s going to be a bloody good time!
