If you’ve missed seeing Andrew Lincoln (“The Walking Dead”) on your screen, Paramount+ has a Christmas present for you. The streaming service has released the trailer for the series “Coldwater,” a dark, moody psychological thriller that will premiere this January.
Lincoln stars as John, a stay-at-home dad who is desperately trying to outrun his past. After a violent playground incident back in London leaves him shaken and questioning his own manhood, John packs up his family and moves to the remote, quiet Scottish town of Coldwater. He’s looking for a fresh start, but as we know with thrillers, “quiet” usually means “creepy.”
The Neighbor from Hell?
Upon arriving in the rainy hills of Scotland, John is immediately taken under the wing of his neighbor, Tommy (Ewen Bremner). Tommy is the life of the party—charismatic, confident, and a total pillar of the local community.
At first, it’s precisely what John needs. But the honeymoon phase doesn’t last. A string of unsettling events begins to plague the family, and John suspects that Tommy’s friendly “local legend” persona hides something much darker. The series asks a classic, terrifying question: How well do you really know the person living right next door?
A Powerhouse Creative Team
Behind the scenes, the show has some serious pedigree. Created and written by David Ireland, the series is directed by Lee Haven-Jones and Andrew Cumming.
Joining Lincoln and Bremner is a stellar supporting cast, including Indira Varma (Game of Thrones) and Eve Myles (Torchwood).
With Andrew Lincoln also serving as an Executive Producer, you can expect this project to be a high-intensity character study that explores the thin line between “protecting your family” and “losing your mind.”
