Daniel XIII; the result of an arcane ritual involving a King Diamond album, a box of Count Chocula, and a copy of Swank magazine, is a screenwriter, director, producer, actor, artist, and reviewer of fright flicks…Who hates ya baby?

Sibs Jacob (Mark Hanson, Howlers) and Jonathan (Joe Hollow, who co-directed the picture with Wolfgang Meyer) fancy themselves filmmakers… which is true, however their intended audience is rather niche…

You see, these two wild and crazy guys make artistic snuff films… and because movie makin’ is truly a collaborative biz, they have some handy helpers in their putrid productions in the form of Jacob’s over-bearing wife, Sophia (Shannon Lark, The Devil’s Disciples), actresses Carmen (Angie Stevenson, Sons of Anarchy) and Maria (Tawny Amber Young, Bloody Wedding)… even the duo’s mentally challenged sis, Rebecca (Devanny Pinn, The Black Mass), gets in on the act!

This creepy community isn’t all hunky-fucking-dory however… in fact it’s far from it my cats n’ creeps, as the brother’s constant squabbling has driven some of the ghastly gang to possess mutinous intentions!

Now dig this… for the Super Murderio Bros. latest feature, they have crammed an ass-load of cameras into a dilapidated prison… a prison they plan on filling with all-manner of hapless boobs to help increase the kill-count!

The hunt is on, but what chance does the prey have against these pro-level psychos?!

The Family Business features a substantial number of characters (creepy and otherwise)… but fret not, the focus remains firmly on the bruisin’ baddies that inhabit this wicked world where brutal violence and wholesale human slaughter (both depicted with gloriously ghoulish glee) are filmed for fun and profit by people that really get off on such horrible hi-jinks… and give zero fucks about it as well.

While the cast is very solid, featuring as it does thespians that have proven their metal in past independent fright flicks, we also get a murderer’s row (playing murderers no less) of horror royalty Tony Todd (Candyman), Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th: The New Blood) and Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes)!

Adding to the ambiance of the piece is the effectiveness of the prison setting; a location that provides claustrophobic uneasiness which perfectly accentuates the uncomfortable actions of the main characters and their unsavory activities.

What does all that mean?

Nothing short of fright flick nirvana for those that need their gore-tooth satisfied in ways varied and sundry… dished out with the right amount of exploitation film nastiness to make The Family Business a devious delight for admirers of 42nd Street-style mayhem!

The Family Business was released September 23rd 2025, and is available on Tubi, Fandango at home, Typhoon on demand and Relay.
