Move over, big-budget Hollywood—there’s a new giant predator in town, and it didn’t come to play. While everyone is buzzing about the upcoming big-screen Anaconda reboot, the masters of chaos at The Asylum have unleashed a new movie. Their slither-fest, The Anacondas, is out now.

The Plot: Don’t Wake the Gods

The story kicks off in the dense, unforgiving wilds of Mexico. A team of explorers hit the jackpot. They stumble upon the buried ruins of an ancient civilization that worshiped giant snakes.

Naturally, the team begins celebrating their significant archaeological find. But the party ends pretty quickly when they realize the ruins aren’t just empty stone—they’re a tomb for a massive, ever-growing anaconda. This isn’t just any snake, though; it’s a legendary beast that has been starved of its usual human sacrifices for centuries. Safe to say, it’s woken up very, very hungry. Now, the team has to stop measuring ruins and start running for their lives as they try to survive a predator that’s been waiting hundreds of years for a snack.

Behind the Scales

Marcel Walz, known for bringing a stylized, intense energy to the horror genre, directs. The script comes from the writing duo Ryan Ebert and Marc Gottlieb, who are experts at crafting the kind of high-stakes “man vs. beast” scenarios that fans of The Asylum absolutely crave.

The cast leading the fight for survival includes Dominic Keating, who you might recognize from Star Trek: Enterprise. Danielle Titus and Bix Krieger round out the cast.

Why You Should Watch

Let’s be real: sometimes you need to turn off your brain and watch a massive reptile wreak havoc. The Asylum has built a legacy on “mockbusters” and creature features that prioritize fun, fast-paced action and over-the-top kills. The Anacondas delivers exactly that—ancient curses, claustrophobic jungle tension, and a snake that keeps getting bigger.

Catch It Now!

You don’t have to wait for a theatrical release date or fight through crowds at the cinema to see this one. The Anacondas is out right now on digital platforms! Watch it now on Digital!
