Get ready, horror fans, because a killer new project is officially in the works! Genre legends Danielle Harris (a Halloween final girl) and Michael Ironside (the icon from Scanners and Total Recall) star in Marrow, a unique, true-crime-inspired horror film.

The Plot: Fame at Any Cost

The story stars Jessica Dawn Willis as Jamie Foster, a vlogger whose career is on the decline. To get back on top, she does something absolutely insane: she invites her stalker onto her show.

The catch? She suspects this guy might actually be the serial killer who’s been picking off influencers. Her views skyrocket, but things get terrifying when she realizes the stalker might not even be human—and her life isn’t the only one on the line.

The cast also includes a talented bunch: Matthew Tompkins, Ashley Spicer, and Phil Harrison.

Real-Life Inspiration

Director Mitch McLeod (who previously gave us Silhouette) isn’t just making this up—the script is based on a real stalking case that occurred in a small Texas town.

“Marrow takes the true accounts of a stalking in a small town Texas in the early 2000s and
places it within a modern lens, exploring the world of podcasts America’s oftentimes unsettling
fascination with serial killers and true crime podcasts. I’ve never seen the dark side of these explored in
film, from both the lens of the audience and those telling these stories, and I want to lean into that in an
attempt to understand these dark fascinations held by so many.” McLeod states.

McLeod teamed up with Willis and award-winning horror novelist Preston Fassel to bring this to life. It will explore America’s fascination with serial killers and true-crime podcasts, as well as the dark side of being the person telling these stories and the audience consuming them.

Production News

The movie is set to wrap filming this summer across Dallas and Oklahoma, and it sounds like a total trip into the dark side of internet fame. With a cast this legendary and a premise that feels so relevant to our current social media era, Marrow is definitely one to keep an eye on. And don’t worry, we’ll keep you posted as more details surface.
