Cameras are officially rolling in Key West for Key of Bones: Curse of the Ghost Pirate, a new horror-comedy that leans heavily into Florida’s haunted history. Forget cheesy parodies; this flick is all about using dark humor to make the supernatural scares hit even harder. We have the first look at the film directed by Tony Armer.
The Plot: Don’t Touch the Gold
The story kicks off when three total strangers—a local waitress, a ghost-tour guide, and a random tourist. They stumble upon a set of cursed coins washed up on the beach.
Naturally, things go south fast. They accidentally trigger the return of the legendary pirate Anne Bonny, whose ghost isn’t exactly in a “peaceful rest” kind of mood. Her violent awakening sends a wave of mischievous spirits and terrifying entities across the island. t
Why It’s Different
While most pirate movies stick to CGI and soundstages, Key of Bones is filming on location at some of the most haunted spots in America. By using real-life locations known for shipwrecks and tragedies, the crew is capturing a vibe you just can’t faked.
You can expect authentic Key West folklore baked into the script. One minute you’re laughing at the character chaos, the next you’re checking behind your shoulder. But be warned, Anne Bonny’s ghost isn’t the only thing lurking in the shadows.
The Vibe
It’s a mix of vibrant island charm and deep, unsettling darkness. The film aims to be a wild ride that respects pirate mythology while delivering a fresh, creepy perspective on what happens when the past refuses to stay buried.
