Your childhood favorites are about to trade their theme songs for chainsaws. SoCal Cinema Studios has just pulled back the curtain on a massive new project: the “Slaughter Toons” Multiverse. This isn’t just a one-off movie; it’s a six-film slasher saga that reimagines classic cartoon icons as cold-blooded killers.

The initial lineup for this twisted universe includes gritty, horror-fueled takes on Mickey, Minnie, Winnie, Flip, Popeye, and Betty. If these movies draw blood at the box office, the studio already has big plans to expand the roster even further, with potential appearances from characters like Felix and Bambi waiting in the wings.

Behind the Bloodshed

At the helm of this “Slaughter Toons” is Dustin Ferguson, owner of SoCal Cinema Studios and the director behind House on Haunted Hill (2024), the upcoming Seed: Legacy, and 154 other projects.

Ferguson is personally stepping into the director’s chair for the “Betty” installment. As for the other five films, the studio will soon announce five different filmmakers who will bring their own unique, terrifying visions to the table.

Dustin Ferguson isn’t just looking to follow the recent trend of public-domain horror—he wants to perfect it. According to Ferguson:

“I’m thrilled to tap into this exciting world and bring these characters to life through the SCS lens. I think what some of the other adaptations out there are lacking, we’ll make up for with our raw energy, passion, and over two decades of experience in the genre. Fans can expect an intense, brutal, but overall FUN tone with every installment.”

What’s Next?

The production is moving fast. Cameras are set to start rolling this spring, with the rest of the slasher slate following shortly after. If you’re looking for a fresh take on horror that combines nostalgia with nightmare fuel, this is definitely a multiverse to keep your eyes on.

For real-time updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses as these characters transition from the drawing board to the chopping block, you can follow Dustin Ferguson on Facebook.
