Who’s a good boy? The breakout horror hit of last year is finally coming home! If you missed the chance to see the world through a dog’s eyes on the big screen, you can grab Good Boy on Blu-ray and DVD this March.
This isn’t your typical haunted house flick. It’s a tension-filled supernatural thriller told entirely from Indy’s perspective, a loyal dog who wants to protect his person.
The Story: A Very Good Dog vs. Very Bad Spirits
When Indy and his owner, Todd, move out of the city and into a creepy, long-vacant country home, Indy knows immediately that something is off. While Todd is busy settling in, Indy is busy tracking invisible intruders, dodging ghostly warnings from a long-dead pet, and witnessing flashes of the house’s dark past.
As the malevolent forces begin to take hold of Todd, it’s up to Indy to stand his ground. It’s a heart-pounding battle of canine loyalty versus pure evil.
The Ultimate “Underdog” Success Story
The behind-the-scenes story of Good Boy is just as impressive as the movie itself. Director Ben Leonberg filmed the movie over three years for just $70,000, using his own dog, Indy, as the star. Despite its small budget, the film grossed $2.2 million in its opening weekend last year and has since earned over $8.7 million worldwide.
Critics, including us, have raved about its unique POV and what a good boy Indy is. In fact, the film made it onto our Top 10 Horror Movies of 2025 list. And described it as “It’s eerie, intense, and clever. And Jesus, it hits you right in the feels” in our review.
Special Features
For the physical media collectors, the Blu-ray and DVD are packed with extras that dive into how they actually pulled this off:
-
Audio Commentary: Featuring Director Ben Leonberg and Producer Kari Fischer.
-
Making-Of Featurette: See how they directed a dog to be a horror lead.
-
Development Diary & BTS Extras: A look at the three-year journey from backyard project to global hit.
Can’t wait until March 17? You can stream Good Boy right now on Shudder and AMC+, but I’m telling you now, you’re going to want a copy.
