If you’re still sleeping with the lights on after the latest Terrifier, I’ve got some news that might make you want to double-check the locks. A brand-new psychological nightmare titled Twisted, starring Terrifier franchise star Lauren LaVera, is heading your way this February. And you won’t even have to leave your house to get terrified.
The Pedigree: Horror Royalty
When you see the names behind this project, you know you’re in for a rough (but awesome) ride. The film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman. Bousman defined a decade of horror with Saw II, III, and IV, as well as Spiral: From the Book of Saw.
Bousman is a master of the “trap” subgenre and knows precisely how to make an audience squirm in their seats. Legendary Saw producer Mark Burg joins him, so expect that signature grit and high-stakes intensity that keeps you guessing until the final frame.
A Scam Gone Horribly Wrong
The story kicks off with a high-stakes real estate scam led by a clever con artist. She’s used to being the smartest person in the room. However, her luck runs out when she picks the absolutely wrong house to target.
She finds herself captured by a “surgeon” who has a terrifyingly methodical plan for her. This isn’t just a simple kidnapping; it’s a systematic descent into a medical nightmare where her wits are the only thing that might keep her alive. The title Twisted seems pretty literal here—both for the plot and, likely, for what’s going to happen to the characters.
An All-Star Genre Cast
The lineup for this movie is a total dream for horror fans: Lauren LaVera: Fresh off her iconic “Final Girl” run in Terrifier 2, 3, and 4, Lauren is officially the new face of horror. She is joined by the two-time Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place: Day One). The supporting cast includes Neal McDonough (the best “guy you love to hate” in Hollywood), Alicia Witt, and rising star Mia Healey.
Why You Should Be Excited
Bousman is at his best when he’s playing with claustrophobia and psychological manipulation. Since Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer wrote the script, expect a narrative that isn’t just about the scares but also about the clever, dark twists the title promises.
Coming Soon
Twisted officially releases on digital platforms for purchase or rental on February 6, 2026. Watch the new trailer below for a taste of the terror to come.
