It looks like 2027 is officially becoming the year of the horror revival! Just as we’re processing the news about Mike Flanagan’s The Exorcist, Paramount has stepped up to announce its own. The “found footage” king, Paranormal Activity, is making a comeback!

A brand-new Paranormal Activity movie is officially slated to kick off the summer blockbuster season on May 21, 2027. While we don’t have a title or details yet, the studio is clearly betting big on this being the “must-see” spooky event of the year.

The Dream Team is Back

This isn’t just a quick sequel. Paramount is bringing in the heavy hitters to make sure the franchise regains its crown. Horror titans James Wan and Jason Blum are joining forces through their powerhouse banner, Blumhouse-Atomic Monster. Oren Peli, the man who started it all with the 2007 original, is also returning to produce. And Ian Tuason has been tapped to direct the vision for this new chapter.

From $15k to a Global Empire

It’s wild to think that this franchise started with a tiny $15,000 budget and a grainy camera. Since then, the series has spawned seven films and grossed over $900 million worldwide. It remains one of the most profitable film sagas in history, and with Skydance Media now at the helm of Paramount, they are clearly looking to strike gold again.

What Can We Expect?

The plot is being kept under a “demonic” amount of secrecy. But let’s be real: we can probably expect some terrifying surveillance footage. There will be things that go bump in the night. After a few years away from the big screen, fans are hungry to see if Tuason can bring back that “don’t-look-at-the-corner-of-the-room” dread that made the first few movies so iconic.
