If you’re still reeling from the announcement of EC Comics’ Tortured Hearts earlier this week, brace yourself—the legendary horror stable is just getting started. The partnership between Oni Press and the revived EC Comics line has been a dream come true for gore-hounds and anthology lovers alike, and the momentum is hitting terminal velocity.
We’ve just caught word that Oni Press is gearing up for a major offensive this April, dropping a host of new titles that promise to honor the “Pre-Code” spirit of the original 1950s masterpieces while dragging them screaming into the modern era.
While the full industry solicitations are still under wraps, we are thrilled to announce that we’ll be pulling back the curtain on these upcoming titles very soon. Mark your calendars: Thursday, January 23, is the big day. We’ll be exclusively revealing the names, cover art, and creative teams behind the April slate before anyone else.
Why the EC Comics Revival Matters
For the uninitiated, EC Comics (Entertaining Comics) was the gold standard of 1950s horror, sci-fi, and crime. Titles like Tales from the Crypt and The Vault of Horror were so effective and boundary-pushing that they practically caused the creation of the Comics Code Authority.
By bringing these back through Oni Press, the goal isn’t just nostalgia. These new series are recruiting the best in modern horror—writers and artists who grew up on the “GhoulLunatics”—to tell stories that are just as provocative and visceral as the originals.

Blood Type 1
