It’s been a big couple of years for the Frankensteins, with Guillermo del Toro’s film, Gyllenhaal’s The Bride, and the upcoming “Very Young Frankenstein” series headed your way. Well, hold onto your orange soda, because the 90s are coming back to life—literally! The comedy duo, Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, are officially teaming up again. This time it’s for a brand-new horror-comedy that puts a spooky twist on their legendary chemistry. Get ready for: Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein.
The Big Reveal
The news dropped on the Amazon sports talk show “Good Sports” in the most casual way possible. Kenan usually co-hosts the show with Kevin Hart, but Kel was filling in as a guest host when they decided to break the internet. You can check out the full clip of the announcement below!
Delivery Drivers vs. The Undead
According to the official logline, the movie follows two delivery drivers (we can already hear Kenan’s “Whyyyyy?!” and Kel’s “Aww, here it goes!”) whose routine drop-off goes off the rails. They end up at a creepy, totally out-of-place castle and accidentally wake up Frankenstein’s monster. What was supposed to be a quick shift turns into a hilarious fight for survival. Is the monster just hangry? Does he want a burger? We’ll find out soon enough.
A History of Spooky Shenanigans
Believe it or not, this isn’t the duo’s first brush with the supernatural. Die-hard fans will remember the Nickelodeon TV movie Two Heads Are Better Than None, which served as the epic finale to their classic sitcom Kenan & Kel. That one featured a headless knight, so a giant green guy with bolts in his neck feels like the natural next step.
This is the first major project the guys have announced since they suited back up for Good Burger 2 in 2023. Back then, they hinted that they weren’t done working together, and it looks like they’re keeping their word. From their legendary days on All That to their four-season run on their own show, these two are the gold standard for comedy bromances.
Production on Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein kicks off this summer, so expect plenty of behind-the-scenes hijinks and hopefully some classic catchphrases.
