Lionsgate just unleashed Killer Whale, and let’s just say you might want to cancel those beach plans. If you thought the deep sea was scary before, this movie is about to turn your thalassophobia up to eleven!

Paradise… With Teeth

The setup is a classic “vacation gone wrong” nightmare. Best friends Trish and Maddie head to a breathtaking private lagoon halfway across the world. Trish is just trying to help Maddie heal after a “life-shattering tragedy,” and for a minute, it looks like total bliss.

Spoiler alert: It’s not.

That peaceful retreat turns into a desperate fight for survival when the ocean’s most intelligent predator shows up. But this isn’t just a random animal attack—the movie hints that this orca is on a mission, seeking vengeance for a brutal life spent in captivity.

What’s in the Trailer?

The trailer is a total adrenaline shot. It starts with gorgeous shots of the lagoon and the girls enjoying the water, but the vibe shifts fast. We see the orca launch a relentless, bloodthirsty attack, and the rest of the footage is a frantic, edge-of-your-seat struggle as the friends try to outsmart a creature that is literally designed to hunt.

The Cast & Crew

If you loved the survival tension of Fall, you’re in luck. The film stars Virginia Gardner (who was also in Halloween), alongside Mel Jarnson, Mitchell Hope, and Mia Grunwald.

Behind the scenes, the film is directed by Jo-Anne Brechin, who co-wrote the script with Katharine E. McPhee. They’ve clearly leaned into the “R-rated” intensity to make this more than just your average creature feature.

A Fun (and Terrifying) Fact

Did you know that in real life, orcas are so dominant that they’ve been documented hunting Great White Sharks? They specifically target nutrient-rich livers. If a Great White is basically a snack to these guys, imagine how we’d fare in their territory!

Killer Whale is out now! Grab your popcorn and get ready for a wild ride—maybe stay out of the water for a while.
