Prime Video is officially diving into some family drama—but with a much higher body count. The streamer just greenlit “Dirty,” a gritty new UK original series that promises to be way more intense than your average police procedural.

A Family Reunion from Hell

Set in Manchester, the story follows Eva Bennett, a trainee detective who moves back home only to find herself working a homicide case under her estranged mother, Lois Mercer.

The twist? Lois isn’t just a legendary Detective Chief Inspector; she’s also got some serious skeletons in her closet. As Eva digs deeper into the investigation, she starts uncovering her mother’s own crimes. It sets up an “impossible choice” for Eva: Does she choose justice, or does she protect her own blood?

The Creative Powerhouse

The show is the brainchild of Matt Charman, the Oscar-nominated writer behind Bridge of Spies. Charman is hyped about the “volatility” of the two lead women, promising that every scene feels like it’s about to explode.

“There are no limits on what either of them is capable of,” Charman teased.

Why It’s a Big Deal

This is the first international project greenlit by Nicole Clemens since she took the reins as VP of International Originals at Amazon MGM Studios.

The series brings that classic, moody British crime atmosphere but adds a “fresh and provocative” spin. Expect a deep dive into power trips, moral grey areas, and whether family loyalty actually means anything when your mom is a criminal mastermind.

Production Deets

The series is produced by Charman’s company, Binocular, in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios. It’ll be a Prime Video exclusive, dropping in over 240 countries and territories, Variety reports. Looking for more from Prime Video? You can find it here.
