Investigation Discovery is loading up its schedule for late February and March with some heavy-hitting true crime. Get ready for the return of the Emmy-nominated “LOST WOMEN” franchise and a brand-new season of “FEDS,” both produced by Octavia Spencer’s Orit Entertainment.
Here is the lowdown on what’s coming to your screen and why these stories matter.
Lost Women of Alaska: A Crisis Exposed
The franchise returns on Wednesday, February 25 (8-11 PM ET). It will feature a three-hour special focusing on a terrifying case in the Pacific Northwest.
The series also dives into the murders of two Alaska Native women, Veronica Abouchuk and Kathleen Jo Henry, killed in 2018 and 2019. This isn’t just a “whodunnit.” It is a look at the systemic failures that allow violence against Indigenous women to go ignored for so long.
Why This Story Matters: The Numbers
The “Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women” (MMIW) crisis is particularly severe in Alaska. In some Alaska counties, the murder rate for Indigenous women is 10 times the national average. According to the CDC, homicide is the third leading cause of death for Indigenous women between the ages of 10 and 24.
With the help of some unlikely heroes, investigators were able to link these crimes to a sadistic killer who used the remote landscape as his personal hunting ground.
FEDS Season 2: Inside the FBI
Right after the Alaska special, “FEDS” returns for a six-part second season starting Wednesday, March 4 at 9/8c. If you love “insider” access, this is for you—it features exclusive interviews with agents, informants, and undercover operatives.
The Season 2 Lineup:
-
March 4 – “City Under Fire”: A 72-hour race to stop a serial bomber in NY and NJ.
-
March 11 – “Vanishing Act”: A kidnapping in a luxury neighborhood that isn’t what it seems.
-
March 18 – “We Sell Babies”: Busting a heartbreaking multi-state adoption scam.
-
March 25 – “Inside Job”: Bank employees in multiple states claim they were forced to rob their own branches.
-
April 1 – “Gangbuster”: A rookie agent takes on a deadly crew in South Florida.
-
April 8 – “Hired to Kill”: Tracking a Philly hitman who calls himself “The Real John Wick.”
Where to Watch
Both “Lost Women of Alaska” and “FEDS” will be available to stream on Max (formerly HBO Max) immediately after they air on ID.
The Help actress, Octavia Spencer, noted that she’s honored to shine a light on these underrepresented cases, stating that the Alaska special “confronts the devastating intersection of race and systemic failures.”
