A high-stakes game of cat and mouse is coming to the streets of Los Angeles. A brand-new featurette for Crime 101 just dropped. It gives us a peek behind the curtain of what looks to be the sleekest heist thriller of the year.

The Ultimate L.A. Heist

Set against the sun-bleached, gritty backdrop of the 101 freeway, Crime 101 isn’t your average “robbery gone wrong” story.

Chris Hemsworth stars as an elusive jewel thief who has been pulling off high-profile heists that have left the LAPD completely stumped. Halle Berry plays a disillusioned insurance broker at a major crossroads in her life, whose path collides with the thief’s biggest score yet.

Mark Ruffalo rounds out the main cast as a relentless detective who thinks he’s finally spotted the thief’s pattern. He’s closing in fast, turning the city into a pressure cooker.

As the heist approaches, the lines between who is the hunter and who is the hunted get seriously blurry.

A Powerhouse Cast & Crew

Director and writer Bart Layton—the visionary behind American Animals and The Imposter—is the one bringing Don Winslow’s acclaimed novella to life.

Watch It Soon

With Bart Layton’s background in blending reality and fiction, expect a heist movie that feels incredibly grounded and visceral. It’s got that classic “Michael Mann” L.A. vibe, but with a modern, high-intensity twist. When you mix this much star power with a writer like Don Winslow, you know the dialogue is going to be sharp, and the stakes are going to be life-defining.

Crime 101 is an Amazon MGM Studios presentation, produced by the heavy hitters at Working Title and Raw. Watch Crime 101 in theaters on February 13.
