Get your popcorn ready and mark your calendars, because the best “bite-sized” cinema on the planet is coming to the big screen! Roadside Attractions has announced that the 98th Oscar® Nominated Shorts will be released in theaters across the U.S. and Canada on February 20, 2026.

Even cooler? The whole program is being presented by the legendary Taika Waititi (“What We Do in the Shadows”). As a guy who got his start with an Oscar nomination for his short film Two Cars, One Night, he knows exactly how much punch these small stories can pack, and we are totally here for it!

The Main Event

This isn’t just one movie—it’s three separate theatrical presentations. You can grab tickets for:

  • Animated Shorts (The eye candy)

  • Documentary Shorts (The tear-jerkers and truth-tellers)

  • Live Action Shorts (The “how did they do that in 15 minutes?” picks)

It’s the ultimate way to win your Oscar pool. You get to see all the nominees before the big Night and act like a total film snob with your friends.

The 98th Nominees Lineup

Animated Short Film

  • Butterfly

  • Forevergreen

  • The Girl Who Cried Pearls

  • Retirement Plan

  • The Three Sisters

Documentary Short Film

  • All the Empty Rooms

  • Armed Only with a Camera: The Life and Death of Brent Renaud

  • Children No More: “Were and Are Gone”

  • The Devil Is Busy

  • Perfectly a Strangeness

Live Action Short Film

  • Butcher’s Stain

  • A Friend of Dorothy

  • Jane Austen’s Period Drama (This title alone has us sold!)

  • The Singers

  • Two People Exchanging Saliva

Roadside Attractions Co-Presidents Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff are calling this an “extraordinary crop of films,” and honestly, seeing these on a massive theater screen is a total treat for anyone who loves great storytelling.

Tune in for the Oscars on March 15, 2026, to see who wins!
