If you’ve been looking for a movie that perfectly blends divine intervention, cave-dwelling cannibals, and a desperate quest for the world’s best Chinese appetizers, your very specific prayers have been answered.
The trailer for the absolutely bonkers film Curse of the Baby-Eater has officially arrived, and it’s every bit the “genre-bending indie fever dream” it sounds like. Filmed right in the heart of Austin, Texas, this horror-comedy isn’t just a movie—it’s a lifestyle choice involving bologna and monsters.
A Dog, a God, and a Cave
Meet Gibby Arbuckle. Gibby’s life is pretty standard until his dog starts channeling the voice of God. Most people would see a vet; Gibby sees a destiny. Following the divine barks of his pup, Gibby sets off on a mission to hunt down and destroy a legendary, baby-eating monster hidden in a local cave.
Along the way, he picks up two fellow outcasts: Gordy and Cowboy Ben. This ragtag trio embarks on a journey that’s equal parts terrifying and bizarre. Will they find the monster and the perfect crab rangoon? Will they learn a heartfelt lesson about the power of friendship before getting eaten? Only time (and a 73-minute runtime) will tell.
Behind the Chaos
This “unexpectedly heartfelt” tale comes from the brain of director Joe Bizarro, who co-wrote the script with cinematographer Noel Maitland. Produced by Trash Cult Pictures, the film boasts a cast that feels like a lineup from a very cool, bizarre local punk show. M.H. Dempsey, Jeff Brennecke, Cowboy Ben, Lisa Mason Lee, and Peelander Yellow (Yes, of the legendary punk band Peelander-Z!) star.
How to Watch
Forget waiting for a big theatrical window. Curse of the Baby-Eater is available right now on Blu-ray and DVD from Future Video. It’s the perfect physical media addition for anyone who thinks horror movies need more “hold the mustard” energy.
“We hope you enjoy this tale of monsters, madness, and bologna sandwiches,” says Bizarro.
