It looks like war movies are having a profound “moment” right now. Primitive War is getting a sequel: there’s Beast of War and Unknown Company. The trenches are getting crowded—and honestly, we’re here for it.
The latest intel? New York Times bestseller Daniel Kraus is teaming up with Imagine Entertainment to adapt his WWI supernatural thriller, Angel Down. If you like your history mixed with a side of”holy crap,” this one is for you.
Saving Private… Angel?
Set during the absolute nightmare of World War I, the story follows Cyril Bagger. Bagger is a soldier who has survived the war mainly by being a world-class con artist. His luck hits a wall when he’s sent into No Man’s Land on a grim mission: put a wounded soldier out of his misery.
But instead of a dying grunt, the squad finds a fallen angelthat’ss been blasted out of the sky by artillery. This celestial being might be the”get out of war free” card the world needs, but only if the soldiers can stop being greedy jerks for five minutes. Spoiler: jealousy and paranoia kick in, and things go south fast.
The Dream Team
Thisisn’ttKraus’ss first rodeo with Imagine Entertainment. They recently wrapped up Whalefall (a survival thriller), so they’re clearly vibing. Hollywood heavyweight Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind) is steering the ship.
