Get ready for a supernatural slow-burn that’s guaranteed to have you questioning every stranger you meet at the grocery store.
Erin Doherty (The Crown) and James McAvoy (Split) are officially teaming up for Faith, a new supernatural drama that is currently filming in the U.K. It’s the latest project from BAFTA-winning director Paul Andrew Williams, who clearly has a knack for finding tension in the everyday (if you haven’t seen Bull or Dragonfly, add them to your list immediately).
Stranger Danger?
The story centers on Gina (Erin Doherty), a hard-working single mom just trying to keep it all together. Her world gets a much-needed jolt of excitement when she meets Michael (James McAvoy). He’s a “quietly enigmatic” stranger who actually seems to care about her.
It sounds like the start of a lovely rom-com, right? Wrong. Gina knows absolutely nothing about this guy or what he actually wants. Is he a soulmate, or is he something way more sinister? When Gina’s life gets flipped upside down, Michael’s “extraordinary true identity” is revealed, and things go from zero to supernatural in a flash.
The Squad
This isn’t just a two-person show. The cast is filling out with some serious British talent. The cast includes Liv Hill (Jellyfish and The Little Stranger) and Smylie Bradwell, fresh off Hamnet and The Hunger Games, Variety reports.
The Creative Muscle
Director Paul Andrew Williams describes the film as a “deeply personal story” that blends gritty realism with “something otherworldly.” The project is already a hot ticket for buyers at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin, so expect some big distribution news soon. In the meantime, production is officially underway in the U.K.!
