Ever feel like your job is a nightmare? Well, the first female President of the United States is about to give “political horror” a literal meaning. Blumhouse and Atomic Monster are teaming up to adapt the IDW comic The Exorcism at 1600 Penn, and it sounds like an absolute riot.
Imagine trying to prevent World War III, managing a 24-hour news cycle, and dealing with two moody teenagers—all while your house (which happens to be the White House) becomes a literal demonic battleground.
Hail to the… Priest?
Created by Hannah Rose May and illustrated by Vanesa Del Rey, the story follows a President juggling many responsibilities. She’s trying to calm down political tensions, prevent a nuclear war, deal with teen drama, and the demonic possession of the White House.
Jason Blum is producing this one, and the team is currently hunting for a director who can handle the “scale and perspective” of a supernatural thriller set in the world’s most famous house.
Grounded Horror (With Extra Holy Water)
Ryan Turek of Blumhouse says what sold them on the project was its grounded, urgent feel. It’s not just a ghost story; it’s a fusion of classic possession horror and modern political stress. Basically, if you thought C-SPAN was scary before, wait until the furniture starts floating.
And if you’re already a fan of the comic, there is more good news: a sequel titled The Exorcism at Buckingham Palace is already out from IDW Dark.
