If you thought breaking out of prison was the hard part, wait until you see what’s waiting behind closed doors in Bad Voodoo. This indie horror flick looks like a total nightmare—in the best way possible.
A Hideout from Hell
The story kicks off with two escaped convicts who think they’ve found the perfect place to lay low. They break into a house and take a hostage, thinking they’re in control. Big mistake.
It turns out the house is home to a grieving couple with a massive thirst for revenge. They’ve unleashed a voodoo curse that feeds on guilt and blood, turning the convicts’ “safe house” into a supernatural trap. As the night goes on, they realize they aren’t just fighting for their freedom—they’re fighting for their souls.
Flipping the Script on Voodoo
Director Andrew Adler, making his debut alongside Andre Hepburn, wanted to move away from the usual “movie magic” tropes.
“We really wanted to stay away from the typical Hollywood perspective of spiritism in the Haitian community,” Adler said. “I think you will be surprised that it’s not at all what you think it is.”
The Cast & Crew
The film features some solid talent, including Manny Perez (Pride and Glory), John Fiore (The Sopranos), Christina Moody, Justin Genna, and Alex Joseph Pires.
The script was penned by Devin Fearn, with the original story concept coming from producer Marie Brandt. Expect a gritty, atmospheric thriller that swaps jump scares for deep-seated cultural horror and psychological tension when it arrives on DVD on February 10 via DeskPop Entertainment.
