Get ready for Crazy Old Lady, no, we’re not talking about your mother-in-law. We’re talking about the psychological horror trip that officially drops this month. This isn’t just some low-budget jump-scare fest; it’s executive-produced by genre genius J.A. Bayona (Society of the Snow, The Orphanage), which means it’s probably going to be traumatizing. Hell, the new trailer is nightmare-inducing all on its own.

The Favor From Hell

Our protagonist, Pedro (Daniel Hendler), is having a terrible Tuesday. It starts with a “desperate” call from his ex-girlfriend. She’s in a jam and needs someone to babysit her senile mother, Alicia, for the night.

Now, Pedro—clearly a guy who hasn’t learned about boundaries—agrees. He arrives at the house on a classic “dark and stormy night” to find Alicia, played by Spanish cinema icon Carmen Maura.

Here’s the twist: Alicia isn’t just old and “forgetful.” This senior citizen is calculated and sadistic. What’s more, she has no intention of letting Pedro escape. What was supposed to be a night of watching game shows turns into a series of twisted, life-or-death “games.” And Pedro has to play along to keep his head, literally.

Why It’s on Our Radar

Carmen Maura is a powerhouse. Seeing her transition from “sweet old lady” to “horror movie nightmare” will be a masterclass in acting. Then add Director/Writer Martín Mauregui and J.A. Bayona, and you can expect high tension and zero mercy.

Here’s another great thing: you don’t have to wait months to watch it. Crazy Old Lady lands on Shudder on February 27, 2206. Let it be another reminder to keep your ex in the rearview mirror.
