Ahead of its theatrical debut this March, A24 just dropped a haunting new trailer for Undertone. If you’re a fan of horror that messes with your head (and your hearing), this one is going to be right up your alley, and its buzz only continues to build, suggesting it will be one of the most distinctive horror experiences of the year.

Haunted Airwaves

Produced by Dan Slater and Cody Calahan, the story follows a woman who hosts a podcast dedicated to all things creepy. Life gets heavy when she moves back home to care for her dying mother. However, things go from stressful to supernatural when she receives 10 mysterious audio recordings.

The tapes come from a young, pregnant couple documenting terrifying noises in their own home. As she listens, she realizes the woman’s story on the tapes mirrors her own life in ways that are far too specific to be a coincidence. It’s a mix of psychological thriller and “found-audio” horror that looks absolutely relentless.

A Powerhouse Cast & Crew

The film features some familiar faces: Nina Kiri (The Handmaid’s Tale), Michèle Duquet (The Virgin Suicides), and Kris Holden-Ried (The Umbrella Academy).

This film is special; it marks the feature debut of writer/director Ian Tuason, and it’s deeply personal for him. Tuason wrote the movie while processing the grief of his mother’s final days. That raw emotion is precisely what leads actress Nina Kiri to call the film “powerful.”

Undertone marks the first significant collaboration among Black Fawn Films, Slaterverse, and Kino Studio. And people are loving it.

Making Waves

Before it hits theaters, Undertone made a massive splash with a sold-out World Premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal.

Keep an eye out for Undertone when it hits theaters on March 13, 2026. You’re not going to want to miss this one!
