The red door to the Further is swinging wide open again after two long years. If you thought the Lambert family’s exit meant we were safe, think again—Insidious 6 (rumored to be titled Insidious: The Bleeding World) is officially on the way to mess with your sleep schedule, Blumhouse has confirmed.

What’s the Story This Time?

While the Lamberts seem to have found some peace, the franchise is shifting gears. The new installment reportedly returns to our favorite psychic medium, Elise Rainier, who has entered the spirit realm.

The stakes are getting higher, too. Word is that the plot involves a trio of “stalkers” targeting a suburban family, leading to a terrifying discovery: The Further is bleeding into the real world. No longer just a place you travel to in your sleep, the nightmare is starting to leak into broad daylight. l.

The New Blood (and Fan Favorites)

It wouldn’t be Insidious without the iconic Lin Shaye, and she is officially back to lead the charge. But she’s not alone in the dark. The film also stars Amelia Eve (The Haunting of Bly Manor), Brandon Perea (Nope), and Maisie Richardson-Sellers (The Originals), who are also joining the cast. Sam Spruell, Island Austin, and Laura Gordon round out the ensemble.

Behind the scenes, Jacob Chase (Come Play) is taking over the director’s chair, working from a script he co-wrote with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (the writer behind The Conjuring 2).

The “Insidious-verse” is Expanding

If a sixth movie isn’t enough for you, keep an eye out for Thread: An Insidious Tale. This spin-off is also in the works, starring Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani. It’s described as a “Back to the Future meets Aliens” take on the Further, so expect things to get weird.

The Release Date: Save the Date (if you dare)

After initial scheduling adjustments, Sony and Blumhouse have finalized the release date. Mark your calendars: Insidious 6 hits theaters on August 21, 2026. It’s arriving just in time to end your summer with a cold sweat.

Pro Tip: If you need a refresher before 2026, Insidious: The Red Door (the highest-grossing entry yet) is currently streaming on Hulu and Netflix. It’s also out on Blu-ray. Here’s a look back at the trailer.
