Greetings, Kiddies! Get ready for a “scare-ific” update that’s worth crawling out of your grave for. If you grew up watching a pun-loving, animatronic puppet cackle while people met their gruesome ends, 2026 is officially your year.

Tales from the Crypt—the absolute king of 90s HBO horror—is making a comeback that would make the Crypt Keeper proud. But we aren’t just talking about reruns; we’re going back to the blood-soaked roots that started it all!

The Big Reveal: A 1,000-Page Tome of Terror

Dark Horse Comics just dropped a bombshell: they are releasing The Complete Tales from the Crypt Archive. This isn’t just a book; it’s a massive, 1,000+ page deluxe “tome” that collects every single story ever published in the legendary comic series.

We’re talking every story, every vintage cover, and even those weirdly charming 1950s text pieces. For the first time in over 70 years, the entire saga is under one (very heavy) roof. Dark Horse is known for their quality, and it’s giving this historic EC Comics line the royal treatment it deserves.

A History Lesson for the Un-Dead

Before superheroes owned the world, horror comics were the real rockstars. In the early 1950s, EC Comics was the gold standard. Titles like Tales from the Crypt, The Haunt of Fear, and The Vault of Terror outsold almost everything else on the stands.

Eventually, the “Comics Code Authority” came along and tried to kill the fun with censorship, but you can’t keep a good ghoul down. These stories survived decades of reprints, eventually inspiring the hit HBO series that ran for seven seasons and even a Saturday-morning cartoon.

Why We’re Screaming with Joy

This archive is a massive win for horror history buffs and 90s kids alike. It’s the DNA that inspired Game of Thrones-level production value back when TV was still playing it safe. If this deluxe edition does well, we might even see Dark Horse give the same treatment to EC’s classic sci-fi and crime titles. Fingers crossed (and hopefully they aren’t severed)!
