If you’re the type of person who stays up late wondering if the guy in the cubicle next to you has a “collection” of human teeth in his basement, Epic Pictures Group has a movie that’s going to ruin your sleep absolutely.

The Huntsman has officially arrived, and it’s a masterclass in “how to make a viewer’s palms sweat.” Based on the award-winning novel by Judith Sanders, this isn’t just another slasher where a guy in a mask jumps out of a closet; it’s a psychological head-trip that asks the most uncomfortable question ever: Can you accidentally be too nice to a serial killer?

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

Meet Max (Shawn Ashmore), an ICU nurse who is clearly too pure for this world. He decides to volunteer his spare time reading to a patient in a coma. Very sweet, right? Wrong.

The patient is Lincoln (Garret Dillahunt), a guy suspected of brutally murdering six women. As Max gets closer to his comatose “buddy,” he realizes he’s getting tangled in a web of obsession and lethal secrets. Even though Lincoln is stuck in a hospital bed, the danger is very much alive. Max is left wondering: Is he caring for a monster, or is there a bigger mystery hidden behind those closed eyelids?

Why This Isn’t Just Another Friday Night Fright

Director Kyle Kauwika Harris isn’t going for cheap jump scares here. He’s leaning into the “gray areas of morality” and the total fragility of the human mind.

“The true horror often lies not in what we see, but in what we don’t,” Harris explains.

The film is designed to be a psychological rollercoaster. You’ll be questioning everyone’s motives—including your own—as you watch a detective (Jessy Schram) who has clearly had a very long week try to piece the puzzle together. She’s giving off major “don’t test me” energy, and honestly, we relate.

The Dream Team of Dread

The cast is basically a “Who’s Who” of people you recognize from your favorite shows. That includes Shawn Ashmore (X-Men, The Boys), Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost), Jessy Schram (Chicago Fire, Mad Men), and Garret Dillahunt (Fear the Walking Dead).

Out Now!

Forget the popcorn—you might need a stress ball for this one. The Huntsman is out now, so grab your copy or find it on your favorite digital platform. Just maybe… don’t watch it alone if you’re planning on getting any sleep. Be sure to check out the exclusive clip.
