The world’s first immortal rock star has officially entered the chat. Lestat de Lioncourt (played by Sam Reid) just dropped his first single, “Long Face,” and it’s exactly the kind of dramatic entrance you’d expect from a bratty, centuries-old vampire.
The track is available right now on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music via AMC Networks and Lakeshore Records. This is just the opening act for the upcoming season, “The Vampire Lestat,” premiering this summer on AMC and AMC+.
If you’ve been following the drama between Louis and Lestat for the last two seasons of “Interview with the Vampire“, get ready for a total vibe shift. AMC has officially rebranded Season 3 of “Interview with the Vampire” as “The Vampire Lestat.”
What to Expect This Season
Forget the quiet shadows—this season is all about the stage lights. Lestat is heading out on a multi-city tour while being haunted by “muses” from his past. As he becomes a global icon, his influence over both humans and vampires hits a breaking point, just as an “unnatural surge” in the vampire population (The Great Conversion) starts causing chaos.
The heavy hitters are all returning, including Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, and Delainey Hayles.
The Sound: Ziggy Stardust Meets Undead Ego
Series composer Daniel Hart (the genius behind The Green Knight and S-Town) wrote over 20 original songs for the show. He says the vibe is heavily inspired by David Bowie’s chameleon-like ability to reinvent himself.
The Quote (Daniel Hart):
“We decided early on to make David Bowie a big influence… expect Lestat to change his musical colors throughout the season as he discovers how to express his truth on stage.”
The Clapback (Lestat de Lioncourt): True to form, Lestat isn’t exactly giving out “Employee of the Month” awards. He had some… thoughts on working with Hart:
“He decided early on to steal where he could from Bowie because he hasn’t had an original idea for five years now… The bass should have walked down with the guitar at the end instead of pedaling on E. Predictable.”
Why Daniel Hart is the Real Deal
If you haven’t been following Hart’s career, he’s the secret sauce behind almost all of David Lowery’s films (A Ghost Story, The Green Knight). He’s been a touring musician for bands like St. Vincent and Broken Social Scene, so he’s bringing actual rock-and-roll credibility to Lestat’s onscreen band.
