Get ready, horror fans, grab your cross and some holy water, because we just got an update on the new supernatural horror, Izzi. And it sounds like an absolute nightmare in the best way possible!
Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan) and the legendary Michael Rooker are teaming up for a possession story that’s going to be twice as intense as you think. Rooker has a long history in the genre with series like “The Walking Dead.” He also starred in horror films like Henry, one of the most unnerving serial killer films ever, and, of course, there’s James Gunn’s Slither. Let’s not forget about his role in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. In other words, we’re getting an actor who always delivers.
The Twist: Twice the Isabelle
In a move that is perfect for her range, Isabelle Fuhrman isn’t just playing the lead. She’s pulling double duty as twins, according to Deadline. Jenny (Fuhrman #1) returns home to find that her twin sister, Izzi (Fuhrman #2), has been possessed by a “malevolent force” and has vanished into the woods. A long-buried generational curse has surfaced, and Jenny has to team up with her dad and the local sheriff, Blackstone (Michael Rooker), to dive into the cursed forest and get her sister back before it’s too late.
The Creative Powerhouse
Behind the camera, we’ve got even more twins! Jamie and Jason Neese are directing the film. They were the co-executive producers of Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy.” If they bring even half of that show’s weird, high-stakes energy to this horror flick, we are in for a treat.
Why We’re Hyped
Fuhrman is essentially horror royalty at this point, given the Orphan franchise. Recently, she’s been crushing it in projects like The Novice and Horizon. Add Michael Rooker playing a small-town sheriff dealing with a “supernatural escapade”? Say no more. Whether he’s blue, holding a crossbow, or wearing a badge, Rooker always brings the grit.
The film is said to be a mix of possession horror and “creepy forest” vibes, which is a winning combo in our book. We’ll let you know when more news surfaces. In the meantime, head over to Peacock and watch Slither. Henry, a must-see if you like brutal and twisted movies, is available now on Prime Video. And Fuhrman’s Orphan is streaming now on Roku and Hoopla.
