The official trailer and poster for What’s Wrong Wendy just dropped. It’s the high-octane, sapphic vampire flick we didn’t know we needed. If you’ve ever had a “situationship” that felt like it was killing you, Wendy Day can definitely relate.
A Slice of Sapphic Carnage
Wendy Day (Spooky Madison) is your average, perpetually-baked pizza delivery girl. She happens to be hung up on her high school crush, the red-headed heartbreaker Victoria Sinclair (Alexandra Boulas).
When a Valentine’s Day run-in reignites their old spark, Wendy wakes up the next morning feeling… different. She’s faster, she’s stronger, and she’s developed a sudden taste for violence. Wendy spirals into a monstrous identity crisis. And Victoria must decide whether she can still love the girl who is now essentially a feral vampire.
To save Wendy (and themselves), Victoria teams up with an unlikely squad: Arlo (Tova Weinberger), the local occult expert who knows exactly what they’re up against.
And then, there’s Sam (Anthony Dain), a police officer with a dark past who’s seen too much to be surprised by a vampire pizza girl.
More Than Just a Monster Movie
Co-directed by Dusty Austen and Spooky Madison, the film is being described as Jennifer’s Body meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but significantly gayer. It uses “pop-horror” and gore to explore the messy reality of being a teen girl. You know, dealing with identity, reclaimed autonomy, and the terrifying nature of lifelong commitment (or, you know, eternal life).
Where to Catch the Premiere
In true indie horror fashion, What’s Wrong Wendy is having a world premiere unlike any other. The “Hollywood Bash” event is set for September 2026 at its primary filming location: Greenlawn Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio. Keep an eye out for the official date announcement.
